Non-honors candidates graduating in 1950 or later in the field of English will have to take a divisional examination to qualify for the A.B. degree. George Sherburn, chairman of the Department, announced this change in policy Saturday.
Earlier this year the English department voted to suspend the divisional tests for non-honors men because of the cut in the tutorial program, feeling that their preparation would be inadequate without to same guidance offered students with tutors.
According to the new ruling non-honors candidates will be asked to answer only two of the three questions on each of the two Junior divisional examinations. Honors men will still be asked to reply to all three questions on each paper.
