Cowles Brothers See Crimson Vital Factor in College Life

By Gardner Cowles

(President and Editor, Look Magazine; President, Des Moines Register and Tribune; Chairman of the Board, Minneapolis Star-Tribune.)

The training I received on the Harvard CRIMSON in 1922, 1923, 1924, and 1925 was of enormous value. As I look back on it now, I am convinced that the Harvard CRIMSON work was about as important a factor in my education as everything else during my three and a half years at Cambridge.

The Harvard CRIMSON has a more important function than merely to report the activities of the University. It should lead student thinking and should interpret the student point of view. It frequently has had an important role in molding the character of the University. It can have a very definite part in seeing to it that students of the University appreciate the opportunity of acquiring a superior education...

I wish the CRIMSON 75 more years of vitality and leadership.
