'51 Committee Votes Judd as Smoker Chief

Members Plump for Mem Hall Environs

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Slating Memorial Hall as the scene of the revived Freshman Smoker, the '51 Committee handling the event get down to brass tacks Tuesday and last night, and elected Ralph Waverly Judd '51 of Yakima, Washington, and Thayer Hall as its chairman.

In its meeting tonight, the Committee will discuss a possible advance of the February date, tentatively set in December, in order to give more time for inviting the outside talent which the group hopes to tap.

To Consider Door Charge

The second major question on the agenda calls for a decision on a proposed door charge to cover the rental costs involved in the use of a University building.

Appointments have been made by the '51 Committee to supervise the various arrangements which it must make. The quest for entertainers will be led by Raymond Grew '51 and Richard B. Hansen '51. Louis Solomon '51 and Robert W. Tolf '51 are in charge of the program, and Sherrill H. Houston '51 will provide refreshments.

Sweetser Heads Staging

Alan Sweetser '51 was chosen as head of staging and Thomas W. Grossman '51, as treasurer. The Committee is soliciting the assistance of volunteers from the Class of 1951.

A meeting was called for last night to decide on the change of date and on door charges. The absence of several of the Committee members, however, forced postponement until tonight.
