HYRC Letter Asks New GOP Action

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Charging the present Republican party with "vacillation and split personality," the Harvard Young Republican Club voted Tuesday night to submit its own national reorganization plan to GOP party leaders.

The plan urges that a national GOP meeting be called before the coming session of Congress to establish Republican strategy for the next four years.

Especially blasted in the letter is the Republican record during President Roosevelt's administration; the Young Republicans state that the GOP exhibited "almost blind opposition to social welfare measures." They also single out the eightieth Congress for providing the "kind of embarrassment which the 1948 nominee could ill afford."

The letter concludes that the Republican party must decide in 1948 what kind of candidate it should run in 1952, and then develop a consistent congressional record which he can support.
