In the warehouses of Back Bay, yellow chrysanthemums fester in obscurity. Not a single Harvard student was jailed in a riot last night. Three Radcliffe girls will got without dates this evening.

For the first time this term, Saturday has arrived without a football game.

Biddies and cops are happy: the maids don't have to worry about pretzel crumbs in the rugs and the police don't have to worry about firecrackers in the streets.

"But I wish we had another Yale game" one biddy said yesterday. "We didn't make beds on Saturday because everyone was in Yale, and we didn't make them Monday because everyone was in bed."

Peanut vendors and ticket-hawking gamins are unhappy, and so are the freshmen who'll be going to Saturday classes for the first time in their lives.

The Square merchants just don't care. George O'Brien of the Harvard Provision Company said yesterday that "it won't make any different to us. Students drink as much when there isn't a football game as they do when there is."

Hardest hit were the concessionaires who rent clip-on sears built especially for the stadium. It's an off season for their 1000 slats of L-shaped wood, with a cushion or two glued to the sides.
