'52 Track Squad Goes to Andover For Meet Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With almost no practice since reading period, the freshman track team journeys up north this afternoon to meet the Andover runners in their own cage.

"We're a little rusty," Coach Jaakko Mikkola said yesterday, "but I think we'll win."

Mikkola predicted a clean sweep in the 600 yard run for the Yardlings, with McGrath and Grutzner almost certain to take first and second in the event.

Cairns and Gregory in the 1000 yard run, Durakis, Geich, and Weiskopf in the 300, and Weiskopf in the 40 yard dash have impressed Mikkola in recent practice sessions, and these are the events in which he expects the team to pick up most of its points.

Thin Red Line

The 28 pound weight throw, with Osgoodby and Rubin doing the heaving for the Crimson, is the only other event where Mikkola gives the freshmen more than an even chance for victory.

Mikkola reiterated his long-standing plea for more men to come out for the squad. "We have to have some depth," he implored. "Snow is the only pole valuator on the team and Ravreby the only shot putter," Mikkola said. "There are several events in which we have only two men and in others only three."
