Faculty, Staff Money Sought By Red Cross

Drive Will By-Pass Undergrads In Climb Toward $12,000 Quota; Council Given $142

The Red Cross officially opens the 1949 campaign among the faculty act employees of the University today in its drive to complete the Harvard quota of $11,969. Pledge cards have been mailed to over 6700 members of the Harvard community.

A big step towards the goal will be made today when Robert L. Fischelis '49, President of the Student Council, turns over the $1412 collected from the student body at fall registration. John W. Teele '27, Director of the Student Placement Burean and Chairman of the Harvard Red Cross Fund, who receives the check counts on the faculty and University employees for the balance of the quote.

In a letter mailed along with the pledge cards. Teele mentioned the inevitable flood conditions this spring as a reason for giving generously. He also called upon the 2700 faculty members and the 4000 employees to make their donations through Harvard in order to complete the quota here.
