The American Chemical Society yesterday awarded the Priestley Medal to Arthur B. Lamb '05, Erving Professor of Chemistry, Emeritus and former Director of the Chemistry Laboratories.
Retired editor of the Journal of the American Chemical Society, and member of the College Faculty since 1912, Lamb will receive the medal at the society's fall meeting in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Recipient of the William N. Nichols Medal in 1940 for his work with poison gas, he was a leader in defense chemical research in both wars. Until his retirement in 1948, Lamb was the lecturer in Chemistry A.
