"Peace, National Independence and Democratic Education" will be the theme of the Second World Student Congress of the International Union of Students which will be held this summer, August 14-27, in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Since there is no American affiliate to the IUS, the Committee for the International Student Cooperation is initiating the formation of an American sponsoring committee and a U. S. delegation from student organizations, student councils, college newspapers and student committees.

Representatives from 54 countries are expected at the Prague meeting. The conference is being heralded as a demonstration of "student solidarity for peace and academic freedom."

At the Congress, student representatives of the different nations will take part in various forums and discussion groups designed to foster the exchange of ideas on current problems. Last year's Congress drew an unusually large number of delegates.
