Brown Swimmers Challenge Unbeaten Varsity Tomorrow

Harvard's toughest meet of the season may be decided in the first event, as the undefeated varsity swimming team takes on Brown at 8:30 p.m. tomorrow night in the Indoor Athletic Building pool. The Crimson could lose by three points, or win by 31.

Brown, winner of five and loser only to Yale, has men in almost every event who can swim with the Crimson's best.

Bob Barlow will challenge undefeated Steve Hedberg in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle sprints in what may be the best races of the night. Bruin Don Cameron rates about even with Dough Kinney in the 440-yard freestyle, and co-captain Duncan Gray should beat Rene Vielman and Ken Emerson in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Harvard is favored in the diving, backstroke, and 220-yard freestyle, with Pete Dillingham, John Steinhart, and Bob Berke, all unbeaten this year.

Superior depth should give the Crimson a five point advantage in the individual events, but loss of one or two place positions would require Harvard to take both relay races.

The medley trio of John Steinhart, Ken Emerson, and Ron Huebsch will need its best yet to top the Bruin squad, which swam the 150 yards in 3:01.6 against Connecticut Saturday in Storrs.

The unbeaten freshmen will meet the Bruins in a 7 p.m. preliminary. Brown is strong in spots, but Bill Brooks' Yardlings have the advantage in depth.
