College Group Passes Anti-UMT Resolution

Delegates to the Association of American Colleges Conference in Washington, yesterday approved a "double-barreled" resolution condemning a pending bill in Congress to set up universal military training and opposing UMT as a matter of principle.

The 685 representatives from college and liberal arts departments of universities characterized UMT as "unnecessary and undesirable." "UMT as a permanent policy," the resolution stated "is likely to be fantastically expensive, educationally undesirable, morally hazardous, and politically dangerous."
