Chemistry Professors Speak on Field Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Members of the Chemistry Department will speak at 4:30 p.m. today in Mallinckrodt MB-23 in an effort to sell chemistry to freshmen as a field of concentration.

The department is the first in the University to show concern over the recent trend toward fewer science students in American colleges. Department members arranged the meeting because they felt that not enough time was alloted each department in the usual concentration talks held each spring.

The meeting is planned not only to provide information on courses, but also as a conference on industrial, government, and institutional opportunities.

Speakers include Louis F. Fiesser, Sheldon Emory Professor of Organic Chemistry, Paul D. Bartlett, Erving Professor of Chemistry and Chairman of the department, and George B. Kistiakowsky. Abbot and James Lawrence Professor of Chemistry.
