Third-year students at the Graduate School of Design last week sketched remodeled versions of the Square's police booth: the miniature (right) by J. Theodore Siddoway was judged as the best entry.

Neither the winning model--with the officer suspended seven feet from the pavement--nor any of the other designs will be submitted to Cambridge authorities, however. Siddoway called the present kiosk "pretty substantial" and added. "I imagine that it will stay there."

The students made measurements and interviewed policemen before drawing up their sketches, and most of the entrants suggested re-location of the booth to improve the view.
