Ruggers Recoup After Early Losses in Bermuda Tourney

Crimson ruggers few home from last week's Bermuda rugby carnival yesterday after playing what island newspapermen called "both the worst and the best" of any of the five entrants. They lost two games, won one game, and tied-the fourth.

The squad tied the Bermuda Athletic Association, Sunday 3 to 3, and lost, 0 to 6, to the British Navy, Thursday. In both games, according to Co-coach Brad Lundborg, "the great inexperience" of this season's many new Crimson players showed up repeatedly. Exception was freshman Jim Macrae, who made the only score: a touchdown during the British Navy game.

Lundborg said the next two games showed a "tremendous improvement." In the first, the Crimson held tough Dartmouth--last year's carnival winner--down to a 0 to 5 loss, while in the second it thrashed the same British Navy squad 11 to 3. Coach Calhoun made the firm touchdown, after a scrum, and Jim Call han kicked for goal successfully. Pete Irving and "Whitey" Black made two further touchdowns.
