Mello Places in IC4A Meet; Informal Team Runs Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Bob Mello's five-way tie for third in the pole value was the only scoring the Crimson was able to do in last Saturday's IC4A Championships.

Mello cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in tying for third. The winning height was 13 feet. Bad weather kept the performances generally poor. Only one record fell during the meet.

Two miller Dave Cairna, sprinter Bob Twitchell, Phil Pratt in the discus, and Off Murray in the shot all failed to score.

Favored Manhattan won the meet to take the college crown away from the Ivy League's defending champion, Cornell. Meredith Gourdine, the Big Red's star, lost two of the titles he tried to defind from last year.

N.E. A.A.A.U. Meet Tonight

A free lance Crimson track team made up of 14 varsity, freshman, and unattached runners and field men will compete in the New England Amateur Athletic Association Meet at 6 p.m. tonight at the M.I.T. track.

Though several other men are entered, it is doubtful whether even 14 men will turn up to represent the school. There is a team championship awarded, but the Harvard group is going on a purely individual basis since their season is officially over.
