Vatican Calls Feeney; He Doubts Summons

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Rev. Leonard J. Feeney, deprived of his priestly functions four years ago in a dispute over the Catholic doctrine on salvation, told newsmen yesterday he has been summoned to the Vatican but would not go.

He said he had received four letters from Rome Summoning him before a group of Cardinals "who rule on matters of church discipline relating to the teaching of articles of faith," but would not make the journey because he doubted the authenticity of the summonses.

Three years ago he wanted to lay his case before the Vatican and take of "reaching the Pope one of these days" if only he could afford passage.
