Wintergreens, Rineharts to Play Again in Crimson Bowl

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The second annual Crimson Bowl game will be played in the Stadium on Armistice Day, Nov. 11.

Lineups and coaches for the game will be released Tuesday by Adolph W. Samborski '25, Director of Intramural Athletics.

The teams for the Armistice Day contest already have been chosen, however.

The Wintergreens, last year's winners, will meet a vengeful Rinehart juggernaut.

Only one touchdown has been scored in this Harvard classic--by Bill James of Winthrop and Wintergreen on a 17 yard run. James has one more year of eligibility and will probably paly again.

Representing the Wintergreens will be House all-star players from Adams, Dunster, Eliot and Winthrop. Men from Leverett, Dudley, Kirkland, and Lowell will wear the blue jersey of the Rineharts.

The game, originally proposed by Richard B. Kline '53, two years ago, is jointly sponsored by the Athletic Association and the CRIMSON.

The H.A.A. will supply, among other things, Soldiers Field, equipment and uniforms. Just exactly what the CRIMSON supplies has never been determined.

In 1951, Kline, then a CRIMSON sports-writer, proposed the idea of playing an all-star House game on the open Saturday of the varsity schedule. Powerful aggregations from Open University and Closed College were scheduled to meet that year. But a heavy rain forced postponement to Armistice Day and required new names. Last year, Walter M. Ulin '54 won a pair of Yale game tickets with his suggestion of the names Wintergreen and Rinehart.
