Carroll Lowenstein, it fine passer and smooth ball handler, "went under center" yesterday and Brian Reynolds moved up to a first-string halfback position as a Clasby-less Crimson went through a closed practice yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field.
Just exactly what did happen is a secret except that two second-string linemen, guard Bill Frate and Bill Hickey recently promoted from the junior varsity squad, were injured.
Clasby is still "bruised" after the Davidson game but is expected to play Saturday against Princeton.
Meanwhile, at Nassau, Princeton also concentrated on defense, against the Tiger freshmen, who staged a Harvard-type ground attack.
Back with the Crimson varsity yesterday were wingback Bob Cowles, recovered from a shoulder separation, quarterback Jerry Marsh, who alternated with Carroll Lowenstein, and fullbacks Bill Volmer and Ron Messer.
