The varsity basketball team defeated M.I.T. in a 60-minute scrimmage Saturday, 86 to 73, despite a 13-point deficit at the end of the regulation 40 minutes. Sophomore guard Dick Hurley led the overtime comeback with eight points, followed by Warren Kantrowitz and Neil Muncaster with six apiece.

Three members of the starting lineup, which played approximately half the scrimmage, were tied for scoring honors with ten points each. The trio, Captain Roger Hulger and sophomores Ike Canty and Bob Dolven, were also tied with eight points apiece at the end of 40 minutes. The other starters were seniors Dick Manning and Rollin Perry.

The quintet will face a perennially strong Holy Cross five in another scrimmage Tuesday evening at Worcester. Northeastern will be the varsity's first regular season opponent on Dec. 6, and the first league game will be with Brown two nights later.
