The University Band collected 1115 dimes last night in its drive to replace the deceased bass drum. Although the $121.71 collected so far represents less than a tenth of the $1500 goal set for replacing the Band's most famous asset, officials of the group were satisfied.
"We are extremely confident that we will get what we need from Harvard undergraduates." Arnold H. Aronson '56, president of the Band said last night. "We won't resort to collecting at Radcliffe unless we are driven to it," he added.
Among the Houses, after one meal, Lowell was the leading donor, with $17.34, followed by Kirkland with $15.83. Bunched together in third place were Winthrop ($12.62), Leverett ($12.57), and Adams ($12.21). Dunster House has contributed $9.54, and Eliot gave $7.57.
