Ivy Eligibility Rules Prevent Pros From Playing Rugger

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Three prospective members of next season's rugby team will not be able to play the sport, owing to a provision of the Ivy League ineligibility rules. Under league rules anyone playing on a team with professionals is barred from all future NCAA competition.

Bob Perry, ex-center for the Los Angeles rams, John Nichols and Woody Simpson, assistant freshman and junior varsity football coaches, may not join the 15-man rugby squad because of their professional status.

Prospective team members whose status would be jeopardized because of the coaches' participation include football players Bill Meigs, Orville Tice, Jan Meyer, Ted kennedy, and Bob Wynn, who want to play the sport.
