The varsity sailing team placed second behind M. I. T. in competition for the George Owen Trophy at M. I. T., after sweeping the heptagonal ravens races at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn., over the weekend.

M. I. T. barely edged the Crimson sailors in the last two races on Sunday to win the Owen Trophy, given for the Ivy League and Service Academy Championship, by an eight point margin. The varsity trailed by one point before the final race in each division but lost two points in "A" division and five in "B" to lose the trophy.

Addie Closson skippered, with the crew of Frank Thomson in the "A's" division on Saturday to win 31 points in five races. Fred Hoppin, with crew Pete Chermayeff, took over "A" duties yesterday and won two firsts in seven races.
