New York Team Beats Crimson Ruggers, 18-0

The Crimson's understrength rugby team was generally outplayed by the powerful New York Rugby Club on Saturday, losing 11 to 0.

The Crimson kicked off, and for the first fifteen minutes of play stayed around mid-field. Then ex-Crimson wing Larry Boise broke through half-hearted tacklers for two long runs and two quick tries, to make the score 8 to 0 at half time.

Despite excellent forward play by Englishman Jim Cooper and senior Woody Harris, playing his first game for the team, it was not until the last ten minutes that the Crimson backs began getting their share of the ball.

Then fly half Jim Doolan and center Ricky Carey sent Dave Holmes and Barry Churchill away on two long runs down the sidelines, each of which nearly resulted in a try.

The defeat made the ruggers' record one and two, with the final match of the fall against Princeton on Saturday.
