Bellboys Check 'Cliffies

By Jean J. Darling

Despite numerous short corners and 25-yard bullies, the Radcliffe hockey team lost its first match with Lowell House yesterday afternoon. The 2-1 score does not indicate the character of the play, which was spirited and aggressive. Unfortunate inaccuracies on the part of both forward lines caused many possible goals to go wide of the cages.

The 'Cliffies showed better stickwork throughout the 30-minute game, but the Bellboys were just too fast for the girls. The men were somewhat slowed up by their sloppy playing, however, obstruction and sticks being the most common fouls.

At the end of the half the teams had one apiece; but after some hard playing near the 50-yard line, Lowell House rushed down to the 'Cliffedwellers' cage to slip the winning point past the goalie, who was slightly bemused by the crowds of men who appeared everywhere--the Bellboys seemed to have no use for the conventional positioning patterns.
