The appointment of Erik H. Erikson as professor of Human Development, effective July 1, was officially confirmed yesterday by Dean Bundy. Erikson, an expert in the study of child behavior, will teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

His lower-group course will be a broad survey of psychology, Bundy said, and his middle course will cover the general question of human development through age. He will instruct graduate students in clinical psychology, cultural anthropology, and related subjects.

Erikson did research at the Harvard Medical School before joining the Austen Riggs Center, Stockbridge, in 1931. Still at the Center, he is currently working with the psychological problems of young people. He has been involved in the study of childhood most of his life.
