The Cambridge election count moves into its fourth straight all-day session this morning, but so far only Walter J. Sullivan and Mayor Edward A. Crane '35 have been elected to the City Council.
The election commission finished the official tabulation of first place ballots late yesterday afternoon, and only Sullivan with 4754 votes and Crane with 109 votes had passed the 3250 vote minimum necessary for election under Cambridge's system of proportional representation.
But the second vote count, completed late last night, narrowed the field to nine principal contenders for the seven remaining Council seats.
Upsets Assured
Upset victories have been virtually assured for G. d'Andelot Belin (2385 votes last night) and Daniel J. Hayes, Jr. 2623 votes). Both Belin, a leading supporter of the Cambridge Civic Association, and Hayes are seeking their first term on the Council.
The other principal contenders after last night's count are incumbents Joseph DeGuglielmo '29 (2277), Cornella B. Wheeler (2246), Andrew T. Trodden (2163), Alfred Vellucci (2128), Pearl K. Wise (2007), and John D. Lynch (1907). Bernard Goldberg, with 2162 votes, may fill another major upset victory.
