Kirkland swept easily to the House football championship yesterday afternoon, running over Dudley 20 to 0.
Completing five of six passes on its first offensive attack, Kirkland drove quickly to the Dudley three yard line. Lee Raitz then carried the ball over to rack up the Deacons' initial six points.
Ray Waitkins, the Kirkland fullback, claimed the real offensive honors, as he tallied the other two touchdowns. In the first quarter he sprinted 39 yards to pay dirt on a quick opener up the middle.
For its third TD, late in the fourth quarter, Kirkland marched 85 yards in two plays. Watkins carried the ball on both occasions, first for 50 yards, and then for 35 more and the score.
