A pair of third period goals enabled the freshman soccer team to defeat Connecticut 2-0 Saturday.
Tallies by Bill Perkins and Sam Thompson, combined with outstanding defensive play by goalie Jimmie Tyne, gave the Crimson its first shutout victory of the year and boosted the squad's mark to five wins and one tie. Right wing Bill Hitzig set up both the scores with passes to Perkins and Thompson.
The Crimson win bolstered hopes of beating Yale later this month. UConn blanked the Eli freshmen 4-0 earlier this season.
Both Hitzig and goalie Jimmie Tyne seem destined to bright varsity careers.
