Princeton's Director of Dormitories Visits Quincy, Renovated Yard Halls

John A. Bliss, Princeton's director of dormitories, yesterday accompanied caretaking superintendent John Connors on a room-by-room tour of Harvard's recently renovated freshman dorms and Quincy House.

Bliss, who had spent the previous day examining freshman quarters at Yale, stated that "we were just swapping ideas" and that his visit did not necessarily mean that future renovations or additions were being planned at Princeton. He said that there was a possibility that in the future the college might provide more furniture for its undergraduates, but that "nothing is certain."

"I was very impressed with the remarkable renovations of some of the very old buildings," said Bliss. He added that he had found Quincy House "quite an operation," and that its design was "very interesting."

Connors reported that Bliss had been particularly impressed by the built-in book cases and dressers in some of the newer halls, noting that it was "only an off-the-cuff" visit.

Connors added that Bliss seemed to be concerned with the durability of the collage-provided desks and beds, and that he found the indirect-lighting in the dorms "very clever."
