Vic Niederhoffer, junior star of the Crimson squash team, yesterday handily defeated the second ranked player in the U.S., Ben Hockscher '57. Niederhoffer is now slated to play Henri Salaun, generally considered best in the country, in the finals of the Middlesex Bowl Tournament at the Harvard Club of Boston, 2 p.m. tomorrow.
Heckscher, formerly number one on the Harvard squash team, lost to Niederhoffer 15-12, 15-9, 8-15, and 15-10. Hockncher has consistently ranked on the top ten since his graduation.
This tournament, the first which Niederhoffer has played for national ranking, makes him a good bet for the top ten.
