Two varsity coaches have recently been awarded the major "H"--the highest honor in Harvard athletics. Swimming coach Bill Brooks received his award at the swimming banquet Wednesday, and soccer-lacrosse coach Bruce Munro was given the major "H" earlier in the year.

Brooks achieved his greatest triumph this winter, downing Yale 48-47 and finishing the season with a perfect 10-0 record to take the Eastern crown. In three years at Harvard the highly popular pool strategist has complied an impressive 28-2 mark.

Munro guided the soccer team to the Ivy laurels last Fall and has brought about a revival in interest in the sport with his top flight teams. This Spring Munro has a 3-2 record in lacrosse after a gruelling vacation tour. He holds a 96-88-7 overall record.

Football coach John Yovicsin was given the major "H" last Fall after gaining Harvard's first Ivy grid crown since 1919. Other coaches holding the award include hockey veteran Cooney Weiland (whose team won the Ivy this year), highly successful track coach Bill McCurdy (whose squad took the indoor heps title last winter), and Jack Barnaby, producer of perenially strong teams in tennis and squash for 20 years.
