HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
In your article [May 17] concerning the poll the YAF is conducting, you mentioned the Association of Hungarian Students of North America as one of the co-sponsors of the poll. Whereas it is true that the members of the Association are actively engaged in conducting the same poll at various campuses, the Association must emphatically reject any implications of involvement in the intrigues that are conducted against the NSA, be it in connection with this poll or any other field.
In participating in this survey, we were primarily interested in obtaining student opinion about foreign policy. This action was in ignorance of the fact that anyone intended to use it against the NSA, which we consider to be the only true representative organization of U.S. students at present. We have a good relationship with NSA and do not wish to undermine it by subscribing to such irresponsible action. Derick P. Pasternak, Chairman of the Board, Association of Hungarian Students in N. America.
