The Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra has received a grant of limited financial assistance from the United States government, completing the funds necessary for the orchestra's concert tour of Mexico this summer.
The grant was awarded by the State Department as a part of its Cultural Presentations Program.
The 70-member orchestra will give 26 formal concerts in nine Mexican cities during its eight-week tour, and will live with Mexican families in each cities, and give lecture-demonstrations in schools. Mexican soloists, guest conductors, and orchestras will participate in many of the concerts.
More than 30% of the funds for the HRO tour was collected during the past year from private individuals.
