HCUA Will Question Freshman Class About Present Parietal Rules

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Freshman will receive tomorrow a confidential questionnaire concerning parietal regulations from the Harvard Council on Undergraduate Affairs.

Questions will cover three main areas: the student's use or misuse of parietal hours; the student's reaction to Dean Monro's letter which recently appeared in the CRIMSON; and recommendations for changes in parietal hours or the basic parietal structure.

HCUA president R. Thomas Seymour '64 emphasized last night that the freshman poll was in no way connected with the larger study of parietal rules which the Council is undertaking. Instead, a special subcommittee, headed by Val Lewthwaite '67 and composed of three freshmen and three upperclassmen, will conduct the survey independently of the main HCUA report.

Lewthwaite said night that the poll was not designed as a device "specifically to extend freshman parietal hours, but merely as a means to assess the present situation."

Freshman parietal hours are now similar to upper class hours except on Saturday nights when freshman hours extend only to eight o'clock and upper class hours to midnight.
