"The Burning," an original play by Wallace Hamilton '41, a former editor of the CRIMSON, opened Dec. 3 at the York Theatre in New York City. The play, based on Hamilton's honors thesis, has been hailed by critics as a "significant allegory for our times."
The play is in a 13th century leper colony and the surrounding town, and the community uses the lepers as scapegoats for its many ills. The play climaxes with the actual immolation of the innocent lepers by the townspeople.
The production is directed by Stephen Aaron '57, former assistant director of the Loeb Drama Center.
