A 17-year-old University employee who stole 12 cars in the last month last week received a six-month suspended sentence for his efforts.
John A. MacGillivary, a chef's assistant, was convicted of "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle." It could not be learned whether the University subsequently dismissed him.
MacGillivary was arrested last Wednesday near a vacant lot in his home town of Billerica by patrolman Emile Steele, who testified that he was MacGillivary abandon a car, walk down a road, and throw the car keys into the woods. Judge Arthur L. Eno of the District Court in Lowell imposed the sentence.
