The Ivy League soccer race, which is beginning to look like September's American League pennant battle, comes to a head for Harvard's booters today: the Crimson and Penn square off in Philadelphia to see who can knock whom out of the four-way tie for first place.
Both teams, plus Cornell and Brown, are 2-0-1 in league play.
The Crimson, who had to come from behind to slip by Dartmouth last week, will have their hands full with the Quakers. The Penn defense as been scored upon only twice in seven games, while the Quakers have piled up 13 goals of their own in their last three outings.
Harvard's play has been erratic for the last two weeks. The Crimson barely managed to stay in first place contention in the Cornell game when forward Lutz Hoeppner's overtime goal sealed a 2-2 tie. Against Dartmouth, it took Harvard three and one half quarters before a three-goal surge won the game.
