Intramural Boxers Fight Today, Crosby, Peterson to Defend Title

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Steve Crosby of Eliot House and John Peterson of Winthrop House are each trying for their third straight boxing championship at 4 p.m. today in the IAB. The boxing finals -- thirteen bouts in all -- will decide seven House and six freshman titles.

Jaw-smashing Crosby will face Bill Crowe, an Eliot teammate, in the 185-lb. final. Peterson, will defend his unlimited-class crown against Dunster's Vic Petzy.

Crosby outclassed Adams sophomore Bob Allen, last year's freshman champion at 175 lb., in yesterday's semifinal action. Petzy, who played defensive end on last fall's football squad, outpointed Eliot's Mike Georges in one of yesterday's roughest bouts. Peterson and Crowe both drew byes to the final round.

The 175-lb. final will be an all-Leverett affair with Charles Delony, last year's runner-up, fighting Ralph Dittman. Delony registered the day's only knockout yesterday when he downed Dieter Wahl of Kirkland House with a right cross in the second round.

Dave Stern and Dwight Porter, who both drew byes to the finals, will slug for the 145-lb crown. Leroy Uyehara of Dudley defends his 135-lb. title against Chris Davis of Lowell.

The best of the frosh finals will be in the 155 lb. and 185 lb. classes. At the lighter weight, Holworthy's football quarterback John Ballantyne fights Jim Coleman of Matthews South, a dancing, darting type fighter.

Holworthy's Bob Listenbee, who battered his way to a victory over Chris Hashioka, faces Terry Flaman of Mower in the 185-lb. final.
