ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS

The Mail

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Some misunderstanding evidently arose in the interview yesterday with the representative from the Crimson about the changes in the English program:

1. No half course in the Bible will be required.

2. Sophomore tutorial is not being "dropped." It is being given a new structure and purpose in combination with English 10, and will result in tutorial groups meeting twice as frequently as now.

3. The question on Chaucer will not be dropped from the General Examination, but will be included in the Medieval section which is one of the possible choices on the exam.

4. The present honors course requirement is not, as you state, "five full courses, three of which may be related," but eight, of which three may be related. There will be no change in the total number of courses required for honors. Director of Undergraduate Studies   David Perkins
