HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
Dear Mr. Powers:
Being an avid fan of the Harvard hockey team for several years, as well as a reader of your newspaper. I wanted to write you about the great injustice that you have done one of the Crimson's players by refusing to mention him in any of your stories.
I am talking about George Murphy, whom I used to watch at Winchester High School, and who has been one of the most valuable players for Harvard for the past couple of years. George has played his heart out on the forward line ever since his sophomore year, and in the past, always got a lot of recognition from the sportswriters of your paper. But this year, although he is playing as well as ever, you have neglected to give him his fair share of publicity. Could it be that you don't like George, or that maybe with stars like Cavanagh and Terry Flaman, you just lost him in the shuffle?
Since you are an intelligent person, and seem to know what you are talking about. I don't have to tell you of George's fine past record. While at Vermont Academy, he scored 11 goals in one game, and was written up in Sports Illustrated for it.
At Harvard, he has done just as well, leading the team in scoring when he was playing as a sophomore. Since this is his last year, please give "The Master," as we used to call him, his just desserts.
