The Mail SPECIAL CONCENTRATIONS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

We urge all members of the Faculty to attend the Faculty meeting Tuesday and to support the passage of legislation relating to special concentrations. We wish to emphasize that there is a real need for this option and that there is strong support among students for this type of change.

Many of us expressed our position last year in a petition to the Committee on Undergraduate Education that stated, in part, that "we no longer find our concentrations, or any other program presently available, to be the best way to further our educations. If we have the opportunity to create our own majors or participate in self-structured programs, we will do so."

The passage of this resolution, however, should not be considered an end to curriculum reform. Rather, it must be the beginning of a determined effort to make education here meet the needs of every member of the Harvard-Radcliffe community.
