A Mather House student helped Cambridge and Harvard University Police apprehend a fleeing Cambridge 16-year old youth who allegedly drove a stolen car into a fence in the Peabody Terrace area late Thursday evening.
Bruce A. Redding '78 said yesterday he was going up to his room in the Mather House Tower when he "heard a car wreck." Reddix said he then approached the Mather House fence in time to hear Harvard Police officer Thomas Sinas tell the fleeing youth to stop.
Redding participated along with Harvard and Cambridge police in a three-block-long chase which eventually led to the youth's house, where he was apprehended.
"It was no big deal," Reddix said. "I didn't think he had a gun so I ran after him. I'm not a martyr," he added.
