NEH Provides Library Money For Radcliffe

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded a $400,000 grant to the Schlesinger Library, President Horner announced yesterday.

The grant, which will be awarded only if Radcliffe raises at least $1.2 million in non-federal contributions within the next three years, will be used to expand the facilities and the archive collection in Radcliffe's women's history research library.

Expansion

The Schlesinger library presently has a privately funded endowment of $300,000. Patricia King, director of the Library, said yesterday she is grateful for the gift, which will permit the library to continue and expand its programs, if it can be matched.

King said she is optimistic about raising the necessary amount to match the grant, although she has not yet decided when that drive will be launched or how it will be organized.
