Abigail J. Stewart, Data Center Head, To Leave for B.U.

By Burton F. Jablin

Abigail J. Stewart, acting director of the Henry A. Murray Data Resource and Research Center, will leave her post at the end of the summer to become an assistant professor of psychology at Boston University (B.U.).

The assistant professorship could eventually lead to a full tenured position. Stewart, who has served as acting director for two years, said yesterday.

Stewart said she was "essentially the first director" of the center, which Radcliffe established in 1976 to gather data concerning women in society. Recent studies by the center have examined aging, college women career development, and the daycare needs of University staff, she added.

"The center is off to a good start--the research projects are important and valuable," Stewart said, adding, "We're beginning to be recognized both in Harvard and outside."
