Thomas Larkin appears to have won his bid for a Democratic nomination for a county commissioner seat, but his plans to abolish county government will probably be blocked by incumbent Michael McLaughlin, who picked up the nomination for the other county commissioner opening in last night's primary.

McLaughlin apparently rolled up enough votes in the western end of Middlesex county to top veteran politician S. Lester Ralph, the other reform candidate trying for one of the two open seats on the commission.

Larkin and Ralph ran neck and neck in front throughout most of Cambridge.

Turnout was low across the city, yesterday. Only about ten per cent of the registered voters in Ward 6, Precinct 3, where most Harvard student's cast their ballots, went to the polls.
