The Cambridge City Council earlier this week called of the Harvard Lampoon to start serving hot lunches to the city's homeless.

Mayor Alfred E. Vellucci, who proposed the order, also thanked the Lampoon in advance for "generously" opening their doors to hungry Cambridge residents.

But Conan O'Brien '85, president of the Lampoon, said last week that the undergraduate organization, which periodically publishes a humor magazine, had no intention of donating space in their castle.

O'Brien was unavailable for further comment yesterday.

Velludol said he proposed the messure became "Harvard students stem very concerned about the problems of people all over the world. That should include Cambridge," he added.

Vellucel's resolution passed the Council by a vote of 7-0, with Councilor David E. Sullivan abstaining. Sullivan declined to comment on his refusal to support the measure.
