The Harvard men's lacrosse team took a step towards salvaging its season yesterday by defeating C.W. Post in New York, 7-5 The laxmen's record now stands at 5-7.

With the score tied, 2-2, at halftime, both squads took turns holding the lead before the Crimson finally pulled away. Harvard scored, only to see Post tally twice and hold a 4-3 advantage. This time it was the laxmen's turn to score twice as freshman Chris Pujols helped the squad again the upper hand, 5-4.

Post, however, would not be denied, and the New Yorkers broke the ice again to force a 5-5 deadlock. Senior Captain Rich Rainald then tallied the sixth and winning goal. Post then intensified its efforts, attempting to get back into the game.

'They put a lot of pressure on us,' said sophomore Steve Bartenfelder, who had one goal on the day. "Towards the end (freshman Rufus Clark) got loose for a goal, and then we ran out the clock," alluding to a period of six minutes in which play did not stop

"It was probably one of the best games we have had in terms of ball movement and picking up ground balls." Bartenfelder added "There was a night and day difference between this game and the Rutgers game," which the Crimson lost, 11-4 Rainaldi credited the "team defense" for the victory.

THE NOTEBOOK. Sophomore Rob Hawley had one goal and three assists while Pujols tallied twice and dished off two assists.
