Short Takes

This year's Harvard Cooperative Society rebate will total 9.9 percent, the same as last year, but Coop President James A. Argeros said the $2.7 million to be returned to the 110,000 members is the most in the Coop's 103-year history.

The rebate had climbed steadily since 1978's 8.3 percent level, but remained unchanged this year because "expenses were higher and our revenues did not keep pace with the increase in expenses," Argeros said. He said that the 9.9 percent figure is still the highest percentage since World War II, when rebates reached 12 percent.

Members can pick up their checks starting Thursday in the Cashier's Office on the fourth floor of the Coop in Harvard Square.
