Sophomore Eliza Parker became the latest hero of the Harvard women's tennis team yesterday when she pulled out a threeset match to give the Crimson a 5-4 win over the host Tigers.
Down 0-3 in the third set to Princeton's Hilary Pushkin and serving at 15-40, Parker switched to a serve-and-volley attack and won the game.
Parker went on to win the next five games and stole the match from under Pushkin's nose.
Parker's win broke a 4-4 deadlock between the two Ivy teams and gave Harvard its third Ivy win in as many contests.
In addition to Parker, the Crimson's top three singles players (Erika deLone, Erika Elmuts and Kim Cooper) all beat their competition in straight sets.
The Crimson raised its overall record to 9-8. The Tigers fell to 2-3 within the Ivy League and 5-6 overall.
