By Tamar A. Shapiro, Contributing Reporter

A bomb threat yesterday afternoon forced Harvard police to evacuate well over 100 people from the Science Center.

Police reported that a caller told circulation desk officials at the Cabot Science Library "there's a bomb to go off, so get the hell out" shortly before 2:30 p.m. yesterday.

The police report said that a search of the building reveled nothing suspicious, and the building was reopened at 3 p.m.

According to students present at the Science Center, evacuation procedures were not strictly followed.

Jacqueline D. Chang '93 said that she was in class until approximately 3 p.m. in Science Center A, and the class was nottold to leave.

According to Chang, the evacuation did not seemto be complete even when she got out of class.

"I was walking down the hall, and there werestill classes going on," she said. "I thought thatwas kind of strange."

Maryam Khodadoust, an extension school student, also expressed disapproval with the evacuation.

"At the same time we were walking out, peoplewere walking in and going downstairs," saidKhodadoust, who was in the Greenhouse Cafe at thetime of the evacuation. "So much for evacuationprocedures."

The Cambridge Police and Fire Departments werenotified of the incident and were present at theScience Center, according to Harvard police
